Many a time,
when faced with challenges or tasks, we wish we could perform better than we
are presently doing. This pressure sometime arises from an innermost feeling of
emptiness or pressure from family, friends or your boss at work. Long story
made short, what if I say you can make a difference. Here are six simple tips
that can be of help to you. Enjoy!!
1. Think about solution(s) to the problem rather than complaining
about it: Try to spend
minimal percentage of your time complaining and maximum percentage of your time
finding a solution. A lot of people do the complete opposite.
2. Focus on the future; don’t dwell on mistakes of the past: Yes, you
have made mistakes, and you might have regrets. But my friend, it’s over now
and neither you nor anyone can correct your past. This is now. Keep your eyes
on the opportunities of today and tomorrow.
3. Communicate clearly – Avoid miscommunications: Be clear on the tasks you want to do, and in
what order. If you are a boss, communicate clearly what you want to have done.
It might be useful to have the people in your team repeat back what has been
said; that way, everyone is sure that they have the same interpretation of what
is to be done before they get started. While working, get continual feedback so
you can re-adjust your plans if necessary.
4. Keep at it until it’s done: When you start a task,
you will be more efficient and be better at it. However, if you jump around
between lots of half-finished tasks you will lose focus every time you start
working at it again. Keeping at a task until it’s completed can boost your
sense of self-esteem and, over time, strengthen your self-discipline.
5. Don’t beat yourself up: It’s normal to feel bad sometimes. But greater
than that, it’s useful to take with you lessons learned from your mistakes so
you don’t keep repeating them over and over. But if you keep beating yourself
up after those initial bad feelings; you will keep feeling like crap for no
good reason and the people around you will also be affected in a negative
way.
6. Take a break: You won’t be
effective if you don’t take a relaxing break once in a while. If you keep on
pushing and pushing through the work, you will eventually lose your focus;
start to underperform; make mistakes and feel stressed out all the time. Just
taking a break and then returning can make the work feel a whole lot easier
than it did just 10 minutes ago.
So glad you are here, were the tips helpful? It will be a pleasure
to hear your contributions. Don’t leave without dropping a comment. Enjoy the
rest of your day.
